*Software: OverDrive requires you to download and install the OverDrive Media Console.  It may also require a minor update to Windows Media Player.  NetLibrary offers their Netlibrary Media Center for download but requires no additional software beyond Windows Media Player.

File size: Total file sizes for both services are similar for comparable book durations.  NetLibrary downloads a single, large audio file.  There is just one file to download and one file to delete.  OverDrive breaks the audio recording into sub-files of roughly an hour in length, making management of the listening process simpler and lessening the need for an audio player with a bookmarking feature.  OverDrive's Media Console helps track which files have been downloaded and allows the downloading to be done in multiple sessions.

Title selections:  NetLibrary's eAudiobook titles are from their standard collection offered to all participating NetLibrary customers.  The downloadable eBook titles on Netlibrary and the individual titles on OverDrive are selected by the staff of the Arlington Public Library.  If you have suggestions for purchase, feel free to submit them through our Suggestion Box.
