GOcard, the new library card just for kids ages 4 to 12
With a library card, kids can:
- Borrow books, music and video recordings for pleasure reading and enrichment
- Check out a science book to research a science fair project
- Use a computer in the library
- Access Live Homework Help to assist with reading, math and science assignments
- Ask a librarian a question 24/7
- Retrieve full-text articles to use as sources for a research paper
There are 2 ways for a child to get a GOcard:
1. If you already have an Arlington Public Library card…
- Trade your existing card – just bring your old library card AND your Get Ready to GOcard to any library location and trade them for a new GOcard!
2. If this is your first Arlington Public Library card…
- You will need to complete the online activation form. If you have a Get Ready to GOcard, be sure to have it with you when you activate. You may then either pick up your card from any Arlington Public Library location or request that it be mailed to you.
- You will be prompted to:
- Select a Home Library (You can change your selection later if you wish)
- Enter your Zip Code and select your city
- Enter your information into the online form in all capital letters, please.
- If you wish to have your GOcard mailed to the address you enter, type Y when prompted. (You will receive your card in five to seven business days.
- If you want to pick up your card, type N and bring your Get Ready to GOcard to any Library location.
- Click Submit
OR
- Activate in person – visit any Arlington Public Library location to complete
the activation form and pick up your card. Bring your Get Ready to
GOcard with you if you received one at school.
Children (ages 4 through 12) who have fines on current cards may still get a GOcard. Ask the Customer Service Assistant at any Library location about our “Clean Slate for Kids” program.
