Resident/Property Owner Cards: Residents of Arlington and Pantego who can show legal proof of residence qualify for a Resident card. Cards are issued for Adults, Students and Children. Parents may choose to limit their child’s access to only the children’s collections, or to make accessible to their children the video and adult collection. The type of card a parent chooses will indicate the level of access. People who do not live in Arlington, but who own property in the city, can also qualify for a Resident card. They must bring proof of property taxes paid when they apply for their card. To qualify for a Resident card due to property ownership in Arlington, please bring your property ad valorum tax receipt to the library along with acceptable Personal ID.
You may select a Smart Card or a regular library card. The regular library card can be used to check out materials only. A Smart Card is necessary to use the public access computers and print. The Smart Card can also be used to check out materials. Uses available with the Smart Card will be expanded at a future date.
Non-resident cards are available yearly to people who do not qualify for a Resident card. There is a $50.00 per year charge for this card, payable upon application.
Temporary cards are available in special circumstances for people who are living in Arlington for a short period of time. These cards are issued for up to three months to temporary residents of Arlington. Please call the Circulation Section of the Library at 817-459-6900 for details.
Corporate cards are available to businesses located in Arlington on a yearly basis. They are issued to Arlington businesses in the name of the executive of the firm, who is the person responsible for any materials borrowed on this card. Items borrowed on this card are limited to materials applicable to this business. A special letter of request on corporate letterhead must be submitted. Please call the Circulation Section of the Library at 817-459-6900 for details and restrictions.
TexShare Cards: The Arlington Public Library is part of a statewide network designed to expand access to library materials and resources. All cardholders at participating libraries can apply for a TexShare card, and then use it to apply for borrower privileges at any other TexShare Library without paying a non-resident fee.

The TexShare Library Card Program is administered by The Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
AISD Student/Faculty Cards: Nonresident fees will be waived for Arlington Independent School District (AISD) students and teachers who are not residents of Arlington. Students and teachers must present proof of enrollment or current employment upon application.
Vietnamese Collection Cards: Nonresidents who wish to borrow materials from the Vietnamese collection exclusively may obtain a card for this purpose free of charge.
Technology User Cards: It is necessary to have a Library card in order to access the Library’s public computer workstations. Patrons who are not eligible for a free library card can get a Technology User Card. This card may not be used to borrow materials and is issued to individuals who only want to use electronic resources within the Library.
An application form must be obtained from the circulation desk of any Arlington Public Library. The completed application, as well as an acceptable form of identification and address verification (to obtain a Resident Card) must be presented at the time of application. Since the application form is a contract between the patron and the Library, the parent or legal guardian of minor children (under the age of 18) must be present to sign the application.
