GOcard, the new library card just for kids

Hey Kids . . . Get Ready, Get Set, GO! @ the Arlington Public Library!

There’s a lot happening at the Arlington Public Library. We want ALL elementary age children attending school in the City of Arlington to have their very own GOcard, the new library card just for children ages 4 to 12.

GOcard Report Card - Click here to see the GOcard AISD report card as of December 31, 2008 and see how your school is doing compared to others.  We want 100% participation for all AISD schools.

NewCheck out the new GOcard Discount Zone.  Save money by showing your GOcard at local participating businesses.  Each month select businesses are offering a discount at their location, all you have to do is show your GOcard at the time you are paying your bill.  Click here to see participating businesses and the savings they are offering.

 

 



InCharles Searles, Dancer Series, acrylic on canvas, 1975 collaboration with Humanities Texas and the Dallas Museum of Art, the Arlington Public Library will be hosting through the month of February the traveling exhibit Black Art – Ancestral Legacy.  This exhibit consists of over 50 works of art, each of which serves to demonstrate the presence of the african "impulse" ” in many aspects of African-American culture.  This exhibit suitable for all ages will be on display at the George W. Hawkes Central Library beginning February 2nd through February 28.

Let's Enhance Arlington's Forest is a new urban forestry initiative designed to bring quality free trees to neighborhoods, businesses and public open spaces in Arlington. The idea of the program is designed around the principle of "reinvigorating neighborhoods".

CPaRlington

CPR Arlington logoThe City of Arlington has been chosen as the premier city for this new program which aims to improve cardiac arrest survival by teaching 10% of the city’s population how to perform CPR. This city initiative, CPaRlington, utilizes a self-directed training method for teaching and learning the lifesaving skills of CPR.  Visit the Arlington Fire Department's web site for more program details.  Did you know that there are AED units location is several city facilities, including the Central Library?  Click below to learn more about AEDs.

lady holding a recycle binThe City of Arlington Neighborhood Services Department in partnership with the City of Arlington Public Libraries conducts a recycling program for apartment residents of Arlington. Apartment residents may drop off recycling material at any public library.  The Minizimer, Arlington's Recycling Crusader has his own web site just for kids.
