Acting for the Camera
George W. Hawkes Central Library,
The Studio
July 19, 3-4:30 p.m.
Everybody
loves movies. Action! Drama! Humor! With so many households owning
video cameras, many of us have a chance to be “movie stars” with friends and
family. Actually performing in a film, however, is not as easy as the
professional actors make it seem, and it is not the same as being in a stage
play. Acting for the camera can be fun but challenging. Teens
interested in acting and wanting to learn more about this subject are
encouraged to attend the upcoming workshop, “Acting for the Camera.”
The instructor will be an experienced actor from Theatre Arlington.
This free program is being presented by Theatre Arlington in partnership
with the Arlington Public Library. No registration is required but
participants must be 13-18 years old.
To learn more about acting checkout these suggested titles in the collection:
- Act Now! A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Become a Working Actor by Peter Jazwinski
- Stars in Your Eyes…Feet on the Ground : a Practical Guide for Teenage Actors (and Their Parents!) by Annie Jay
Make your own recordings with Audacity software
George W. Hawkes Central Library,
The Studio
July 30, 11 a.m.
Do
you have the audacity to make your own music or sound recordings? Audacity
is a sound editing software program that lets you create musical and voice
digital recordings, including clever sound effects. A free class in Audacity
will be offered in our Studio at the George W. Hawkes Central Library. The
class is open to teens 13-18 years old who have an Arlington Public Library
card in good standing. With two teens to a computer, we only have space for
20 students. Grab a buddy and sign up today. Register online, in person, or
by calling the Central Library, 817-459-6900. Ages 13-18.
