Congratulations, Francesco! January's Early Childhood Literacy Basket Winner!

February 14, 2013

Books, toys, music! Francesco is in for a literacy treat!

The library's early childhood literacy baskets are targeted to support early literacy development of babies, ages 0 to 24 months. Proud cardholders of a My First Library Card are eligible to enter monthly drawings for a chance to win a literacy basket designed just for babies!

Francesco (1 yr) and his mother, Antoinetta Mariottini, have been attending the Woodland West Bouncing Baby sessions for some time now. As a mom, Ms. Mariottini has had a lot of fun seeing her son learn at story times. When she found out her friend hadn't been to a Bouncing Baby time yet with her child, Ms. Mariottini said, "You have to go!" Now they all go together to story times at both the Woodland West and Southwest branches.

At Woodland West, Ms. Trish uses fun puppets to bring stories to life. At Southwest, Ms. Cristen gets kids on their feet to fully experience silly songs. Francesco's favorite time at both locations is parachute play. What baby wouldn't love to see those colors lifting up and floating back down!

Winning was simple:

  1. Francesco and his mother picked up a frequent user card from their local library.
  2. Eeach time they attended a story time or checked out a book using Francesco's My First Library Card, they received a stamp from a library staff member.
  3. Francesco entered his completed frequent user card in the monthly drawing after he acquired 8 stamps.
  4. Francesco's card was drawn and he won a basket full of goodies, including books, a music CD, and much more!

You too can enter your child (age 0 to 24 months) in the monthly prize drawing for an early childhood literacy basket! Join us in all the story time fun at your local library!
