The Reading Corps
The Arlington-Mansfield Reading Corps, inspired by The Campaign for Grade Level Reading, has marching orders to ensure that ALL children in Arlington and Mansfield will read on grade level by the end of second grade.
The Campaign for Grade Level Reading is a collaborative effort spearheaded by funders and nonprofit partners throughout the U.S., including the National Civic League, National League of Cities, United States Conference of Mayors and United Way Worldwide.
“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
—Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"
“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.”
“There is no substitute for books in the life of a child.”
—May Ellen Chase
“To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.”
Invest in Our Future.
- Fill out a City of Arlington Volunteer application, agreeing to a background check through the City of Arlington and the Arlington Independent School District (if you’ll be working at an AISD Reading Corps site).
- When the background check is completed we’ll contact you to schedule your orientation session and to find out which RC site you’d like to work with.
- Beginning in January, you’ll be assigned to your site and will be ready to READ!
