- Some individuals will be affected by Congress's December
2007 passage of legislation regarding the Alternative Minimum
Tax. If you are filing using one of the following five
forms you won’t be able to send your return to the IRS for a few
weeks until the IRS computers are reprogrammed for the late tax
law change. The IRS expects to be ready for these returns by
February 11.

AARP Tax-Aide is the largest, volunteer-run
tax preparation and assistance service in the nation, and it is free. AARP Tax-Aide
volunteers will be in the Arlington libraries from February 1 until
April 15 to help low- and middle-income taxpayers fill out their
federal income tax returns.

library near you. AARP Tax-Aide also provides
online assistance that includes a list of frequently asked
questions and a form to email questions to Tax-Aide volunteers.
Free volunteer income tax assistance to low and
middle income families that may be eligible for the Earned Income
Tax Credit (EITC) is offered by The Arlington Assets for Working
Families, a partnership of the City of Arlington, the Arlington
Human Service Planners, United Way, the Community Tax Centers, and
AARP.
IRS-trained volunteers can help eligible workers claim the EITC and
other tax credits and receive refunds in 7-12 days
