Event Rules: For this competition, a band is defined as having a minimum of 2 members with at least one member playing an instrument. Bands must be unsigned and be from Tarrant County and/or attend a school in Arlington ISD. All members performing on stage must be listed on this entry form. All members must sign the form acknowledging that they have read and understand the rules for this event. Band members under the age of 18 must also include a guardian’s signature. All band members must be between the ages of 12-22 with the principal performer(s) being 12-19 years old. At least half the band must be no older than 19 years old as of September 2009. This competition will be virtual, with the top three voted-on bands receiving monetary prizes (in check form) and an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. Entries of up to 3 songs or videos are allowed. Music can be submitted as a CD and turned in with this entry form to your local Arlington Public Library or MP3 files or YouTube links can be emailed to theStudio@arlingtontx.gov with the band name and song information included. Bands entering videos should have the videos be Internet based (YouTube preferred) and not come in a physical format (i.e. DVD). Bands who send in a web-based entry form must still turn in a parent/guardian signature if any band members are under age 18. To do this check the box at the top that reads "Already Submitted through the Web" and fill out the band name. Then have the members under 18 and the parents/guardians of those members sign the form at the bottom. Turn this in at any Arlington Public Library branch. All entry forms and music submissions should be in by Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 8 p.m. Voting will begin online on Monday, August 17, at 5 p.m. at www.arlingtonlibrary.org/botb and last until midnight on Friday, August 28. Winners will be announced and contacted by September 1, 2009. Winners must be willing and able to set up and perform at the Levitt celebration on Tuesday, September 8 starting at 5 p.m. Music and performances must be suitable for a family audience and the public forum. Band lyrics must be free from obscenities. Winners must perform in clothing free from obscenities and refrain from performing songs with obscenities or references to drugs and alcohol. Winners cannot encourage moshing or other dangerous acts to protect the safety of the audience. Failure to comply may disqualify the band from the competition. All entries must be the original work of the submitter and free from copyright/performance restrictions. Please do not submit original copies as all entries will not be returned to the entrants. Winning bands must supply their own instruments and any other equipment. A sound system will be provided at the time of performance. Band members are responsible for the security of their equipment. Event organizers cannot be held responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen equipment or for injuries that band members may incur in conjunction with the competition. Fires, pyrotechnics, fog machines, or other devices are not allowed. Event organizers reserve the right to make any necessary changes to contest rules and have the final word should any disputes arise. Prizes will be awarded on September 18 in check form. A social security number will be required to collect the check. The event organizers reserve the right to withhold prizes from any bands that disqualify themselves by not adhering to the rules. Please contact young adult services at the Arlington Public Library at (817) 459-6900 for more information or email theStudio@arlingtontx.gov. |
