How it works:
Create a 30-60 second commercial about why having a library card is important to you and other teens! Fill out an entry form at your library or download the form online and submit your video to any Arlington Public Library branch by August 28 at 5 p.m.

First Prize: $500
Second Prize: $250
Third Prize: $100
3 Honorable Mentions: $50

All necessary forms must be turned in for the video to be considered. Contest is only open to any 7-12th grade student enrolled in an Arlington ISD school or Mansfield school within the Arlington city limits.

The top six videos will win prize money and will premiere at the Levitt Pavilion for the Arlington Public Library's teen library card party: The MyCard Kick-Off and Studio Celebration on September 8.  We'll also have author D.J. MacHale speak followed by the winning three bands from the Virtual Battle of the Bands!

Contest Rules:

Write, shoot, and edit a teen-friendly video about why teens should get the new teen library card: MyCard@MyLibrary. A panel of Teen Services staff members along with other teenagers will vote. The top 6 videos will be screened at the Levitt Pavilion during our library card kick-off and will receive cash prizes (in check form)!

Videos will be judged on creativity, originality, appeal, quality, clarity, and effectiveness of advertisement of the new teen card and teen library services.

Videos should be 30-60 seconds long. All footage, including background music, must be originally created material, free from copyright, or given to you by permission of the original creator (you must show written proof of permission).

All video submissions must be in .avi, .mpeg, .mp4, or .mov format and submitted as a file burned onto a disc and not formatted as a DVD. Under special circumstances you can submit as a burned DVD but only with consent from the Arlington Public Library.

The commercial must be suitable for showing in a public forum to a family audience.

Entrants must grant the Arlington Public Library the right to use their names and video submission for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes.

All participants including, but not limited to, actors, director, producer, editor, and anyone whose image or sound is on the video must be listed on this entry form along with age, job, and school. All participants must sign this form. The back may be used for extra space.

Everyone involved must be in 7-12th grade and enrolled in an Arlington ISD school or Mansfield school within the city limits of Arlington, TX. Homeschoolers or private school students must live in the Arlington city limits. Teenagers younger then 18 years old must also sign a Publication Release Form in addition to this form.

Bring your video file along with this submission form and any additional Publication Release Forms (for participants under 18) to the nearest Arlington Public Library branch. All submissions are due by Friday, August 28 at 5 p.m.

Prizes will not be given out to groups that don’t have all required paperwork turned in.

Entries will not be accepted if they are late, damaged, in improper format or cannot be viewed because of technical error. Entries will not be returned so please send a copy of the original and not the original itself.

Prizes will be announced on September 8. Prize money will come in check form and will be available for pick up on September 18. A social security number will be required in order to pick up the check.
