This summer, the Arlington Public Library is offering weekly streaming art workshops for children! Join children's book author and Illustrator Rafael López for virtual workshops showing kids how to make art at home. Rafael López was awarded the 2020 Pura Belpé award for illustrations, so don't miss this chance to learn from an award-winning artist!

These art classes are free and will be held through Zoom. Registrations are required for each week's class. Library staff will contact all registered artists with login information on how to join each session. Please sign up for each week's class separately. Click here to see Rafael's classes on our calendar and to sign up.

Materials are provided for families to use during the classes! Art kits will be available for curbside pick-up at the East Arlington Branch Library on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Click here to see the kit pick-up on our calendar and to register to pick one up. One kit has enough supplies for the entire summer! Please register for the total number of kits your family will need. Every family who registers for a kit will also receive a free book illustrated by Rafael Lopez to keep.

Kits include art materials for ages 5-12. They may contain small pieces and are not recommended for children under age 3.

This series is funded by a grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

Registration begins June 1 for these free classes. Join award-winning artist Rafael López and add some art to your summer!
